New Book Out Now. ‘Lesson Study: Making a Difference to Teaching Pupils with Learning Difficulties’

Edited by Professor Brahm Norwich and Jeff Jones, this book documents the findings of a two year project conducted at Exeter University between 2010 and 2012 funded by the Esme Fairbairn Foundation. It features contributions from the team that worked on the project – Pete Dudley, Gill Jordan, Di Hatchett, Ruth Gwernan-Jones, Annamari Ylonen and the editors. This book offers an insightful analysis of how Lesson Study supports and how it can actively promote inclusive education because participating in Lesson Study helps teachers better to understand how specific pupils with their specific learning difficulties can overcome barriers and learn effectively in special school and mainstream classrooms.
The Lesson Study model used in this study is the LSUK model featuring a three research lesson study cycle with case pupils and post research lesson pupil interviews which was commented upon so positively by Toshiya Chichibu in his recent LSUK blog. ‘Lesson Study: Making a Difference to Teaching Pupils with Learning Difficulties’ is available at www.bloomsbury.com
